Well-being and safety
At Skidome, everyone is welcome to ski – from beginners to elite skiers. Together, we ensure everyone has a wonderful skiing experience!
Security
Participation in all Skidome activities is at your own risk. It is the responsibility of each visitor to ensure they are physically fit to take part safely.
In case of accident, contact staff. In case of serious accident, call 112.
Skidome is not responsible for valuables, please lock them in the lockers in the changing rooms.
Familiarise yourself with the location of the safety equipment (emergency exits, first aid equipment and defibrillators). Defibrillators are located by the lifts on the entrance level.
In the event of a fire alarm, leave the building via the nearest emergency exit. The assembly point is at the main entrance. Never go back inside while the alarm is sounding.
Code of conduct
Fluorwax is not permitted in the Skidome.
Always swipe your entry card when entering.
The track markers show the route of the track, follow the directions.
Respect the ski beds. Classic skiing and double poling is done in the classic tracks.
The out-of-track-rule does not apply, overtaking to the left.
Show consideration for other skiers and maintain good conduct.
Feel free to borrow cones/hoops to practise technique, return them when you're finished.
Ski boots are put on and taken off in the changing rooms or inside Skidome. Please do not go outside with your ski boots as this will bring gravel/dirt onto the snow.
Any damage to skis or other equipment will not be replaced.
Cross-country skiing with a sled is permitted Mon-Fri from opening until 16:00. It is important that the sled is suitable for cross-country skiing and does not damage the tracks, e.g. a Thule sled with adapted skis.
Rules for Ski Clubs when Skiing at Skidome
The blue track markings show how the track runs, follow the direction of travel and never go the wrong way.
Slower skiers keep to the right and faster skiers keep to the left; the out-of-track rule does not apply.
If you’re skiing the classic style (this also applies to those who only use the double-poling technique), please stay within the two classic tracks and respect the skate track.
If you're skate skiing, stay in the skate lane to the left of the main tracks.
Show consideration for other skiers, maintain a good attitude and never cut in front of another skier.
Let yourself go properly and don't deviate from the classic tracks.
Do not stop in the middle of the tracks, be aware of your surroundings, and do not block other skiers when you are taking a break.
Apologise to other skiers if you make mistakes. It happens sometimes.
Feel free to borrow cones/hoops to practise technique, return them when you're finished.
During organised training in the Skidome, listen to and follow the instructions from the coaches.
As a trainer/teacher/instructor for activities at the Skidome, you need to be aware of our safety measures, see Safety above.
Help us keep Skidome clean
Do not throw trash or other rubbish in the snow, use the bins provided.
Wear shoe covers if you enter the snow with shoes. Do not walk in the tracks.
Please use our waxing area (fluoride-free waxes only) and tidy up after yourself.
The arena's fire alarm
The arena is divided into different fire compartments, meaning the fire alarm will not sound throughout the entire building simultaneously. The alarm will only sound in the affected parts of the building; should a fire spread, the alarm will then sound in the next affected area, and so on. Evacuation Always exit directly through the nearest emergency exit when you hear the fire alarm – the assembly point is at the front of the arena, in front of the main entrance.
Examples of how fire compartmentation works
If you are skiing in Skidome, you may not hear a fire alarm that has been activated elsewhere in the arena. If you open a door and hear an alarm sounding outside, close the door immediately and return to Skidome. If an alarm sounds inside Skidome, evacuate via the nearest emergency exit. Never enter an area where a fire alarm is sounding.
